I’m at McDonalds this morning…I actually ordered a Coke which doesn’t happen often anymore. Well, as I pull up to pay the cashier says, “the car in front of you paid for your order, she said to have a great day and to pay it forward.” I instantly teared up (cause I’m like that) and asked to pay for the car behind me. I loved that surprise. That unexpected gift.
I have lately felt that I don’t have enough to give. We are scraping the bottom of the barrel. It is so not true because we have way more than we would ever need. But money has been tight in this current season of our lives so I’ve been very conscious of each dollar spent. This concept of paying it forward goes way beyond money though. It’s really a way of life. God Himself was the one who came up with this concept in the first place. “We love because He first loved us.” (I John 4:19) We are to love one another because we are loved by our Father.
