Do you ever feel like you don’t belong? I mean, not like in Jr High, but in life situations, do you feel not quite “in the know?” I started a new job about 6 months ago and it’s only normal that people who’ve worked together for years will have a history of jokes and circumstances that they refer to occasionally. It’s normal for them to have that established “flow” with each other. And, of course, you will feel like the new kid for a while until you start to have those experiences with your co-workers as well. All that to say this is NOT what I’m talking about. I like my job. I like the people I work with. I know God supplied me with this job to help get our lovely children through college. I just feel like He has been, and still is, preparing me for something else. Not necessarily bigger or better, just different. I’m working on my writing and I love it. I just can’t quite shake the feeling that God is setting me up for something different in the future. I mean, I could be a nutjob and just crazy… or it could take another 30 years for me what God is working on in me.
But, shouldn’t we be living like this anyway? Shouldn’t we be moving forward as if being prepared and trained for what God has for us down the road? Do we know the future? Of course not. But, we DO know that God has plans for us. In Jeremiah 29:11 it says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Right! God has plans for us. Big plans! What is He preparing you for? What’s next? He has a purpose in the path we are on right now. He is allowing us to go through things and experience things that will bring Him glory in the long run. He will never bring you to a mountain and leave. He will ALWAYS give you a way to get over it, around it, or through it. He will never bring you to a door and leave saying, “Hey, good luck with whatever’s on the other side of that.”
NO! He is with us in the valleys and He is with us on the mountains. He wants to be with us regardless of what we are going through. Happy or sad, good or bad God wants to be in relationship with us.
So, whatever He has for me and whatever He has for you, He is with you. Think about that. He is in it. He isn’t going away. He doesn’t go on vacation. He doesn’t take a break. He is working on us to prepare us for what is around the corner. I can’t wait to see what God has for me! Live with intention. Live knowing that God is preparing and growing you for the what He has for you. God bless you, sweet reader!
