God is Light
We can not exist successfully without light. The world is full of darkness. From the literal beginning of time when God said in Genesis 1:3, “Let there be light,” the people of the world have been longing for light. In Exodus, when the Israelites were wandering through the desert, God gave them a pillar of light to follow during the night as they walked. They followed the light.
Isaiah 2:5 says, “Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord.”
God tells us all through the Bible to walk in His light, to seek His light, to share His light.
In Matthew we are told to be the light of the world. We are to spread the light of Christ. Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
In the Gospel of John we are told that Jesus is the light of the world. John 1:4 and 9 says, “In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.”
God is light.
