God is Truth
“Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me for you are God my Savior,” Psalm 25:4-5
“Test me, O Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind; for your love is ever before me, and I walk continually in your truth.” Psalm 26:3-4
In John 18:37 Jesus is being questioned by Pilate. Pilate asks if Jesus claims to be King. Jesus answers, “You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to Me.”
In our culture today people talk about finding your own personal truth. Many argue that there is no absolute truth. That there are many ways to God and that everyone will find it themselves. This is dangerously, fatally inaccurate and untrue on many levels. God is Truth. He is the only Way.
The Gospel of Christ is a tough story to understand…mainly because it is so simple. God gave Adam and Eve a beautiful perfect world to live in. God gave them free will. They had a choice to follow God or to disobey Him. Eve ate the apple, shared it with Adam and they were separated from God. God longed to be in community with them again. With us, His creation He longed to be in relationship. Sin separated us. God sent His only Son to be born as a baby, to live a sinless perfect life. Jesus was crucified, buried and He rose again to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins and bring us back into relationship with God the Father. HE IS THE TRUTH.
Yes, the Gospel is exclusive because you must believe but the offer is open to all mankind.
John 14:6 says, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
We don’t have to wander and search for meaning and truth in our lives. God is Truth.
