December 9th- God is GOOD

God is good.

He is the essence of good. The definition of good is the following:  “having admirable, pleasing, superior, or positive qualities; not negative, bad or mediocre.  Morally excellent or admirable; virtuous, righteous.”

Our God is the definition of good.  Read these verses that focus on the goodness of God.

Psalm 145:8-9, “The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.  The Lord is good to all;  He has compassion on all He has made.”

Psalm 52:9, “I will praise you forever for what you have done;  In your name I will hope, for your name is good.  I will praise you in the presence of your saints.”

II Chronicles 7:3, “When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the Lord above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, ‘He is good; His love endures forever.”

In 1 Peter Peter talks about living for God.  He talks about ridding yourself of any kind of evil.  He is telling the church to love one another.  He is telling us to stop living in sin.  Chapter 2:1-2, “Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.  Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.”

Peter is telling the church, you have tasted the goodness of the Lord.  You know the truth.  Now, rid yourself of the old and live in the new knowledge that you have.  You know the goodness of God, now share it.

God is good.
