December 19th-God is HEALER

God is Healer

God is our healer. He is our healer in at least two different ways. First of all He is healer of our separation from God the Father that sin caused. He took our sin upon Him so that we can spend eternity with God. He healed our transgressions. He is our spiritual healer. Secondly, He is our healer in our physical bodies. He has the power to heal us of our ailments. He has power over disease and death. He can heal our bodies.

“Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed.” Isaiah 53:4-5

“Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and passion,
who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalm 103:1-5

When Jesus would heal people during His ministry He would always focus on healing them of their sin. Healing them of their ailment seemed secondary. He is more concerned with the state of our hearts than the health of our bodies. This is not to say He doesn’t want to heal our bodies or have the power to heal our bodies but His concern is with the eternal not the temporary.

He is our Healer

“Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed; Save me and I will be saved, For You are my praise.” Jeremiah 17:14
