Proverbs 3:21-22 is my verse choice for the year. “My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck.”
Working through this verse has been good for me. Wisdom. Understanding. Sound Judgment. Discretion. I’ll have to live to be 800 years old to attain all of these….and probably not even then. Again, this is a command. This is not a request. I love the last part of this, “they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck.” Having these things in our character will be like wearing the most beautiful necklace. People will be drawn to you. They will want to be around you. They will desire the wisdom and understanding that you exhibit. Others will want the secret to your discretion and sound judgment. Striving to attain these attributes will not be easy, and may take a life time, but having these attractive qualities will draw other people into relationship with God. We are supposed to be light and life. These qualities are to be a byproduct of our hearts.
